SLC girls hoops: Badger suffers first loss

The Lake Geneva Badger girls basketball team suffered its first Southern Lakes Conference loss Tuesday night.

The Badgers were tied with host Union Grove at halftime, but the Broncos pulled away for a 70-54 league victory.

Janelle Shiffler paved the way for Union Grove, making 14 field goals on the way to 29 points. Peyton Killberg added 10 points.

A leading scorer for Badger and a full box score were not made available.

•  Waterford 54, Delavan-Darien 39—Three Wolverines players scored in double figures on the way to an SLC home victory.

Jaida Speth scored a game-high 16 points for the Comets, who trailed by just five at half but couldn’t keep up down the stretch.

•  Burlington 71, Elkhorn 31—The Demons built a 23-point lead by halftime and never looked back in picking up a road win.

Jessa Burling scored 24 points to pace Burlington.

Ryley Rand had nine points for the Elks.
