JANESVILLE—The speaker of the House of Representatives will return to his alma mater Monday, Feb. 15, to speak to students.

Rep. Paul Ryan, R-1st District, is scheduled to speak at an all-school assembly scheduled for 1:25 to 2 p.m. at Janesville Craig High School, according to a school district news release.

State representatives and senators from the area are invited to attend, as are school district staff and school board members. The school's a cappella choir and jazz ensemble will provide music.

According to an email sent to parents, Janesville community members and news media will attend the event, “and additional security will be on hand.”

If parents or students do not want to attend, they can contact the assistant principal's office by the end of the day Friday, Feb. 12, and will be offered an “alternative option” in the school library, the email states.

Ryan was junior class president and a student council representative to the school board before he graduated from Craig in 1988.
