JANESVILLE—Police say three men who tried to rob Janesville Wal-Mart got cold feet and took off after a store manager unknowingly interrupted the heist early Saturday.

Wal-Mart workers reported three men entered the store at 3800 Deerfield Drive, Janesville, shortly after midnight early Saturday and tried to rob the store's electronics department of cash and video game consoles, according to a Janesville Police Department.

The men, who police describe as black males in their early 20s, indicated they were armed with guns, but never showed weapons during the incident, police said.

Police said the robbery was foiled when a Wal-Mart store manager walked up to the men and unknowingly interrupted the incident.

The men then left the store, got into a silver or tan compact sedan, and left.

Police are investigating the attempted robbery as having a possible connection to a few recent robberies at Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart security officials told police that based on security camera footage of the Saturday incident, it's possible the men are the same three involved in apparent robberies recently of Wal-Mart stores in Lake Geneva and Delavan.

Police are asking anyone with information on the identity of the three men in Saturday's robbery to call the Janesville Police Department at (608) 755-3100, or Janesville Area CrimeStoppers at (608) 756-3636.
