Robert "Bob" Thostenson, age 76. passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014, at St. Clare's Hospital in Weston. He was born on February 12, 1938, in Beloit, WI to Norman and Alice (Slinde) Thostenson. Bob attended school in Brodhead and later, proudly served in the U.S. Army. He married Patricia Reavis on March 28, 1959, in Beloit. Bob was a carpenter with Thostenson Builders until 1978 when he and Pat moved to Rhinelander where they owned and operated the River Street Tap, retiring in 2002. Bob was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Rhinelander and was a charter member of the Hodag Lions Club. While with the club, he held many offices and was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Award and the Birch-Sturm Fellowship Award. Bob enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing, and was a fan of the Packers, Brewers, Badgers, and NASCAR.

Bob is survived by his son, Aaron (Misty) Thostenson of Augusta, WI; four grandchildren: Dustin (Rose), Tyler, Destiny, and Justice; six great grandchildren: Alivia, Brayden, Emily, Jeffrey, Elijah, and Kyrian; and four sisters, Marion (Eugene) Keller of Melbourne Beach, FL, Ellen Mickelson of Beloit, WI, Norma (Richard) Riese of Beloit, WI, and Nancy (Richard) Norman of Janesville, WI. He is further survived by in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pat on January 20, 2012; two sisters, Carol Terpstra and Donna Creedy; and a brother, Dennis Thostenson.

A funeral service for Bob will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2014, at LUTHER VALLEY CHURCH in Beloit with Rev. Mae Jean Zelle officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church. Interment and military honors will follow the service at Luther Valley Church Cemetery.
