Theodore "Ted" G. Petersen, 78, a lifelong resident of Edgerton, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 29, 2014. at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville. He was born on December 29, 1935, in Chicago, son of the late Bahne and Irma (Munnich) Petersen. He was united in marriage on November 10, 1956, to Joanne Litzler, at Trinity Episcopal Church, in Janesville. He joined the United States Air Force Reserve in 1954 serving until 1962.

Ted was employed by E.E. Kjornes, J.P. Cullen, Helgesteel and Debco, before becoming a self employed carpenter, building and remodeling many homes in the area. He enjoyed a good bargain and was a true collector of many things. He enjoyed socializing and his coffee clutch friends. Ted and Joanne enjoyed wintering the past 8 years in West Palm Beach, FL. Ted's special love was spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Joanne of Edgerton; one daughter, Julie Petersen of Fort Meyers, FL; three sons: Rick (Diane) Petersen, John (Cheryl) Petersen, both of Edgerton and Randy (Vicki) Petersen of Hilliard, OH; 8 grandchildren: LaSonda (Derek) Hahn of Janesville, Luke (Alexis Mielke) Petersen of Janesville, Kara (Ajay Dorn) Petersen of Milwaukee, Katie (Richard Crittenden) Petersen of Milwaukee, Rachael (Andy Last) Smithback of Ripon, Stephanie (Jake Wasachek) Smithback of Milwaukee, Michael George of Fort Meyers, FL and Trevor Petersen of Hillaird, OH; 3 great-grandchildren: Ryan and Owen Hahn and Mason Petersen; 3 brothers-in-law: Richard Litzler of Bloomfield Hills, MI, James (Cherry) Litzler of Edgerton and William (Deb) Litzler of Beloit.

A gathering and celebration of Ted's life will be held from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2014, at the EHLERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, (US HWY 51 N), Edgerton. Condolences may be expressed at ehlertfuneralhome.com
