Rock River League: Raptors force elimination game
NEOSHO—Josh Shere went 4-for-5 with two doubles to back up the four-hit pitching of Sean McCann to lead Milton past Neosho 8-2 in the Rock River League Southern Division playoffs Saturday.
The victory sends the best-of-three series to the decisive third game today at Milton. The game begins at 1:30 p.m. at Schilberg Park.
“It was a great win,” Raptors coach Doug Welch said. “We know each other well, and familiarity breeds contempt. We don’t like them, and they don’t like us.”
McCann survived three rain delays to pitch a complete game. He struck out nine and walked only three.
“He got stronger each time he came out,” Welch said. “He just threw harder.”
The Raptors broke the game open with a two-run eighth and a two-run ninth. Shere and Scott Steinke each had an RBI double in the eighth, and Shere added an RBI double in the ninth.
The winner of today’s game plays North Division champion Brownsville in a best-of-three series starting Saturday.
