Veronica Alice Burns, 96, of Edgerton, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, at her home. Veronica was born Oct. 30, 1917, in the Rock County Town of Leyden, to William C. and Alice (Reilly) Ford. She graduated from Edgerton High School in 1932. She worked at Montgomery Ward, Edgerton School District and retired as Business Manager of the Edgerton Clinic in 1980. Veronica married Robert E. Burns on June 29, 1937, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Edgerton. To this union were born five children: William, Robert Jr., Rollin, Mary Alice and Theresa. She had 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grand children. She was the 2005 Edgerton Tobacco Heritage Days Grand Marshal. In 2007, she was named Edgerton Rotary Citizen of the Year and in 2006, she received the Theodoa Youman's Citizenship Award from the General Federation of Wisconsin Women's clubs.

Veronica was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son, William; and granddaughter, Lori Kuphal. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Johnson of Edgerton; brothers, Leonard Ford of Upper Marlboro, MD, and Cleo Ford of Edgerton. She is survived by her brother, Clement (Rosalind) Ford of Janesville. She is also survived by her son, Robert (Sally) of Edgerton, and their four children: Brian (Mayu) Sapporo of Japan, Suzanne Reilly (Tom Schuller) of Stoughton, Colleen Yelle (Richard) of Germantown, MD, and Tim (Julie Mahnke) of Stoughton; her son, Rollin (Linda) of Edgerton, and their children: Casey (Kim) of Edgerton, Dr. James (Jennifer) of Janesville, and Laura (Tony Savage) of St. Paul, MN; her daughter, Mary Alice (William) Mills of Potomac, MD, and their four children: Liz and Billy of Rockville, MD, Dr. Katy (Peter) Dempsey of Blacksburg, VA, and Robert of Washington, DC; her daughter, Theresa (Mendon) Burns-Gilbert of Sparta, and their boys, Max of Sparta, and Colin (Allissa) of LaCrosse; her son, William's wife, JoAnne of Greenfield, and their children, Patrick (Shelley) of Franklin, and Kelli (Donald) Krueger of Milwaukee. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Kathy Burns of San Diego; and her granddaughter, Lori's husband, Marvin Kuphal of New Berlin.

Funeral Services will begin at 9:30 AM Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at ST. JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Edgerton. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 until 7 PM Friday, Aug. 29th, at ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME, 1004 South Main Street, Edgerton. Contributions may be made to the Edgerton Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Fund.
