McCue, Gunnink win Milton BestBall title

The Milton girls golf team captured the title at its host BestBall Invite on Wednesday afternoon.

The Red Hawks combined to shoot 239 at Oak Ridge to beat Kettle Moraine by 24 strokes. Janesville Craig finished fourth at 305.

The event was originally scheduled for last Thursday but was postponed due to rain. With other tournaments already on the schedule, the field dipped from 17 full teams to six.

Milton's Maddie McCue and Natalie Gunnink put together the top best-ball score among two-player teams, shooting an even-par 72.

Naomi Buggs and Kayla Kaufman paced Craig with a 97. The Cougars compete in a Verona invite today.

n Vikings sixth at Portage Invitational—Kailey McDade finished third to lead Janesville Parker's girls golf team to a sixth-place finish Wednesday at the Portage Invitational.

Verona, behind medalist Jessica Reinecke, won the 14-team invite with a score of 327. Stoughton was a distant second at 357.

Reinecke blistered the Portage Country Club with a course-record 4-under par 69.

McDade's 83 paced Parker. McDade, a senior, had five birdies in her round.

Parker returns to Big Eight Conference action today with a double dual against Madison East and Beloit Memorial.
