Greg Peck: Video reflects on Canadian fishing trip
Since the 1980s, I've fished more than 20 times in Ontario and stayed at 13 different camps/resorts. My favorite is the one that keeps us coming back these recent years—Pickerel Arm Camp near Sioux Lookout. It helps that a Janesville couple, Lee and Julie Edwardson, own the resort. While my buddies and I are fishing in Canada, we're helping support a local family's business. Besides that, the Edwardsons are likable people and run a good operation.
This year, my buddy Brian McGraw of Muscoda and I joined four other fishing friends from the Janesville area—Bill D. Simmons, Scott Breckling, Terry Connors and Dale Herion.
I spent a little time on this trip manning a video recorder. You'll see a plane flying to one of the Edwardsons' remote cabins in one scene. Many fishermen enjoy fly-in trips. Through all of my trips to Canada, however, I've always stayed at base camps you can reach by driving. I've never felt the need to hop aboard a plane to find good fishing.
I hope you enjoy the scenes I recorded. And if you're interested in a trip to the resort or one of its fly-in outposts, contact the Edwardsons at Pickerel Arm Camp, Box 458, Sioux Lookout, Ontario, Canada, P8T 1A8; phone 1-807-737-2499.
