Beloit sex offender committed to mental health facility
JANESVILLE—A Beloit man was committed to a mental health facility following a Rock County Court jury trial Wednesday.
Jimmie Mable, 66, pleaded guilty to the first-degree sexual assault of a child in 1994 and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
He was scheduled to be released Jan. 8, 2013, but was instead detained at a Department of Health Services facility after the state Attorney General's Office filed a petition asking the court to find Mable is a sexually violent person likely to commit a future sex offense, according to an Attorney General Office news release.
The jury decided Wednesday that Mable should be held under a civil commitment and treated until he's “no longer considered sexually violent,” according to the release.
