GLEN ALLEN, Va.—Booneville (Missouri) had no answers for Janesville’s Ross March in a 13U Babe Ruth World Series game Monday.

March struck out four in 4 1/3 innings and drove in five of Janesville’s runs in a 9-5 victory, its first win of pool play.

“He was the player of the game for us,” coach Jeff Endicott said. March added a nice defensive play in the seventh when he tracked a foul ball toward the fence and pulled it back into play to make the out, Endicott said.

Janesville scored four runs in the first inning and never trailed after that.

“Our timely hitting finally got going in this game,” Endicott said.

The victory kept alive Janesville’s hopes of advancing into the elimination round. The local squad is 1-2 with a game left against the undefeated host team, Glen Allen, at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

“They’re a tough team, but we’re looking forward to playing them,” Endicott said. “It’ll be a good test for us.”
