Male body found in Kettle Moraine State Forest
ELKHORN—The body of a deceased male was found in the Kettle Moraine State Forest near Whitewater on Sunday afternoon, officials said Monday.
Capt. Dana Nigbor of the Walworth County Sheriff's Office declined to release details about the man but said foul play is "absolutely not" expected.
A hiker found the body off the trail in the woods at about 3 p.m. and called 911.
The man's identity and cause of death will be determined by an autopsy being conducted by the Waukesha Medical Examiner.
Nigbor would not say if the body is that of Russ Delorme who was reported missing Aug. 1. Delorme's vehicle was found in a parking lot on Esterly Road at the state park.
Delorme, 48, was last seen July 13.
Friends and relatives said it was not unusual for Delorme to hike and explore the outdoors, Capt. Scott McClory of the Walworth County Sheriff's Office told The Gazette earlier.
The sheriff's office conducted seven searches for Delorme, McClory said last week.
Delorme is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 174 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
