TOWN OF LINN--A jet ski carrying two minors erupted into flames on Geneva Lake this weekend.

The Town of Linn Fire Department responded to a report of a boat on fire at 6:39 p.m. Saturday. Upon arrival, they saw the vehicle was a jet ski, Assistant Fire Chief Pete Jones said.

The jet ski allegedly caught fire when it hit a wave after it was filled with fuel. The fire department doesn't know what caused the malfunction, Jones said.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources told the owners they have five days to recover the jet ski, which now rests at the bottom of the lake. Local police may decide to investigate the incident after the vehicle is recovered.

One of the minors was transported to Mercy Walworth Hospital and Medical Center for treatment.
