Janesville Class of 1963 donates more than $3,400 to high schools
JANESVILLE — The Janesville Class of 1963 held a tree dedication ceremony Monday at Craig High School as part of a donation from the class totaling more than $3,400.
"The Class of 1963 had our 50th reunion last summer," graduate Dave Feingold said. "At the time, we asked classmates to contribute to a class gift. We wanted to honor our community, which was a great place to grow up."
Feingold said 45 classmates contributed. The class purchased a Ginkgo tree and class plaque for Craig's sculpture garden. The funds remaining will go to the Closet Funds at Craig and Parker high schools. Each school will receive $1,200, Feingold said. That money will pay for food, field trips and supplies for needy students throughout the school year.
Janesville Senior High School became Craig High School in 1969 when Parker High School opened.
Members of the class gift committee are Feingold, Linda Frank, Betty Glende, Paul Horswill and Barb Tapovitz.
