First-inning grand slam dooms Snappers
The Clinton LumberKings did all their damage with one pitch Saturday night.
After the first three batters reached in the bottom of the first inning, Clinton right fielder Tyler O’Neill belted a grand slam. That was the only offense needed as the LumberKings took out the Beloit Snappers 4-0 in Midwest League play.
Joey Wagman proceeded to strike out the side for Beloit in the first, but the damage was done, and that was the only inning he pitched.
Hunter Adkins and Trevor Bayless threw seven innings of six-hit ball in relief.
Ricardo Pereira, Cruz Pereira and Tyler Herb combined on a seven-hitter for Clinton.
The two teams play again this afternoon.
