EDGERTON—Dustin L. Morey, 39, of North Hill Avenue was arrested at 6:39 p.m. Sunday on child abuse charges. He is accused of shooting two children he knows, a 7-year-old and a 10-year-old, with a BB gun Saturday as a form of discipline.

According to a Rock County Sheriff's Office report, an unidentified woman picked up the children from Morey's home Sunday. The woman informed a deputy the children told her Morey had shot them with a BB gun to punish them.

A deputy interviewed the children, who confirmed the woman's story. Deputies and detectives transported Morey to the sheriff's office, interviewed him and arrested him for physical child abuse, according to the report.

Morey has a 5-year-old stepson who lives with him and his wife. Child Protective Service representatives told the sheriff's office they wouldn't be immediately removing the child from the home but would be “following up” on the incident, according to the report.
