One man dead, another seriously injured after shots fired at Summit Park in Beloit

BELOIT—One man is dead and another seriously injured after police responded to a report of shots fired at Summit Park, 1218 Henry Ave., in the city of Beloit at 8:40 p.m. Saturday, according to a Beloit Police Department news release.

Beloit Fire Department transported the men to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center in Janesville, according to the release. One man died as a result of his injuries. The other victim is being treated for “life threatening injures,” according to the release.

Mercy Hospital was unable to provide an update Sunday on the man's current condition.

A third victim in the shooting was injured “with a non-life threatening gunshot wound” believed to also have occurred during the incident, according to the release. She was transported to Beloit Memorial Hospital where she was treated and released, according to the release.

An investigation is ongoing and the identities of victims are not being released at this time, Beloit Police Department Capt. Dan Risse wrote in an email.
