Janesville 9U baseball team earns top seed
Connor Dillon went 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored to lead the Janesville 9U squad to an 8-1 victory over West Louisville (Ky.) on Friday night at Jeffersontown, Kentucky.
The victory was the local team's third victory in pool play and earned it the No. 1 seed in single-elimination play that starts today.
Janesville plays the winner of the Huron Valley (Michigan) vs. Springfield (Ohio) game at 2:15 p.m. today.
On Friday, Janesville used a six-run third to take a 7-0 lead. Dillon's two-run single scored Carson Herbst and Trey Brock. Jake Schaffner had an RBI single, and Keagan Clark added a two-run single. Joseph Stried completed the inning with an RBI double.
Ian Perkins earned the pitching victory. He allowed just one hit and struck out three in three innings. Dylan Snyder pitched the final three innings, striking out four.
The local squad got a boost when Jack Ryan arrived in Louisville. Ryan has just recovered from pneumonia and is expected to play the rest of the weekend.
