Two arrested in connection with recent burglaries, thefts
JANESVILLE—Police have arrested two Janesville men in connection with recent burglaries and thefts from vehicles and with the burglary of a convenience store Monday.
Arrested were Derek J. Sturdevant and Jeremy R. Green, both 21, both of Janesville but with no fixed address for either, police said in a news release.
Sturdevant confessed to the burglary of the Stop-N-Go at 1804 E. Milwaukee St. on Monday, police said. He was arrested on suspicion of burglary, criminal damage to property and theft in connection with that incident.
Green was arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen property, bail jumping and possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with a rash of burglaries and thefts from motor vehicles, police said.
Both arrests were the result of investigation into burglaries and thefts from motor vehicles, mostly on the north and east sides of Janesville, during the past two months.
Detective Kyle Austin said police believe Sturdevant also was involved in burglaries and thefts from motor vehicles, but he and Green were not associated.
Foreign currency was recovered during the investigation. Anyone who recently had foreign currency stolen is asked to call Austin at 608-755-3143.
