Wallace T. “Pete” Nehls, age 84, of Lone Rock, and formerly of Milton, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2014, at the Greenway Manor Nursing Home in Spring Green. He was born on July 17, 1930, in Janesville, WI, the son of Wallace Keith and Norma (Thompson) Nehls. Pete served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. He was married on Sept. 26, 1955, to the former Geneva Shirley Schwab. He owned and operated the W. Pete Nehls Excavating Company for many years in the Milton area. Pete enjoyed fishing, wood working and spending time with his family.

Survivors include four children: Larry (Theresa) Nehls of Janesville, Ken Nehls of Sauk City, Connie (John) Risch of Milton, Vicki (Scott) Sander of Lone Rock; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Francis Nehls of Janesville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Keith and Norma Nehls; his wife, Geneva Nehls; a daughter, Colleen Nehls; two brothers, Ronnie and Keith Nehls.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at 1:30 P.M. at the BUTTON CEMETERY in Lone Rock. Rev. Craig Peach will officiate with military graveside rites conducted by the Spring Green American Legion Post #253.

The family would like to thank the staff at Greenway Manor Nursing Home for the excellent care they gave to Pete.
