September 27, 1915 - July 29, 2014

Mary Elizabeth Jenson, 98, of Edgerton, welcomed peace with her Heavenly Father on July 29, 2014, at the Edgerton Care Center. She was born on Sept. 27, 1915, in Brodhead, WI. Her parents were Arthur and Nell (Burns) Young. After graduating from Brodhead High School in 1931, she attended Milwaukee Accredited Beauty School in Milwaukee. Upon graduation, she became a beautician in Janesville, WI. She married Ralph "Bud" Jenson, on Oct. 20, 1945. After owning her own shop, she and Norma Burdick opened the Colonial Beauty Shop in Edgerton. She retired in 1976. Mary belonged to Central Lutheran Church and Women of the Church. She attended Ruth Circle. Mary and Beulah Carlson organized "Senior Fellowship", which developed into a monthly gathering replete with food, decorations and an interesting program. Once a month at the Edgerton Care Center, Mary gathered others for Merry's Circle. She led them in devotions, prayers and enjoyed desserts provided by others. She regularly helped the visiting minister with weekly communion. Throughout her life she fed many people with perfection, joy and butter. Recipes were some of this, and that, and of course, taste it. She enjoyed cooking for everyone and the Edgerton Hospital staff on Sunday nights when Bud was a resident.

Mary, one of the oldest members of the American Legion Auxiliary, and a long time member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, felt very positive about Edgerton. She wrote a letter to the editor of the Janesville Gazette stating her feelings.

Bridge, Euchre, Five Hundred, Canasta, Pinochle, and Skip Bo helped build friendships with children and adults. However, pulling a lever or pushing a button and then hearing coins roll out of a machine caused real excitement.

Mary is survived by her children, Jo Anne Coulthart, of Whitewater, and Bob Jenson (Liz) of Edgerton; grandchildren: Tim (Madonna) Coulthart of Madison, Craig (Lori) Coulthart of Sun Prairie, and Tiffany Jenson (Joe McDonald) of Madison; five great-grandchildren: Chelsea and Haley Coulthart (Tim), Jessica and Carly Coulthart (Craig) and Brone Jenson McDonald (Tiffany). She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Jenson in 2001; her parents, Art and Nell Young; two siblings, Roy Young and Anne (Young) Myhre; a doting nephew, Jim Campbell; and son-in-law, Chuck Coulthart.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at CENTRAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, Edgerton, with the Rev. James Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Jenson Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at the CHURCH from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. The EHLERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES of Edgerton is assisting the family. Condolences may be expressed at ehlertfuneralhome.com

A special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Edgerton Care Center for the help and concern for her daily needs and the loving staff of Rainbow Hospice Care.
