JANESVILLE--Three masked men armed with handguns robbed the front desk at the Baymont Inn, 616 Midland Ave., shortly after midnight Tuesday morning, according to Janesville police.

“They removed the cash drawer from behind the counter and fled the scene,” Lt. Jimmy Holford said.

“All three, believed to be males, were armed with handguns and were wearing cloth masks and dark clothing,” he said.

The female clerk was not injured. Police were reviewing security camera video from inside the business and surrounding businesses, Holford said.

It is not known how much money the robbers took. They fled the hotel on foot, he said.

Police are hoping video from exterior security cameras will reveal more information, Holford said.
