Milton Area Chamber hires temporary, part-time employee

MILTON—The Milton Area Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism hasn't yet found a new executive director, but it has hired a temporary, part-time employee to help out during a busy time of the year, Chairperson Mark Warren said.

Warren emphasized the hire is not the permanent executive director at this time and the board still has much to discuss before filling the position.

An ad hoc hiring committee headed by Jim Lyke recommended Tiereny Wirth to the board, Warren said. Wirth owns her own business, knows the Milton community and has worked in sales at Print Max, 222 Sunnyside Drive, Milton, Lyke said.

Wirth will work 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, Warren said.

The board has not fully decided how to fill the permanent position, Warren said. At least four people have expressed interest to Warren and some have submitted resumes, but there might be more, he said.

The post has been open since June when then-Executive Director JoLynn Burden resigned to take a job with Forward Janesville as the group's director of events and membership development.
