Delavan looking to fill vacancy on city council

DELAVAN--The city of Delavan is looking to fill an interim 1st District alderman vacancy on its common council.
Current 1st District Alderman Mary O'Connor is relocating to Janesville, and will resign in August.

The common council will consider filling the vacancy at the Aug. 11 council meeting. The successful appointee will represent the 1st District for the remainder of O'Connor's term, which expires in April 2015. To be eligible to serve, an individual, at the time of appointment, must be a citizen of the United States and of Wisconsin, an elector of the city and a resident in the 1st District.

Those interested in being considered for the position should provide a letter explaining why they want to serve and briefly summarize what they feel they would bring to the seat. The letter should be sent to Mayor Mel Nieuwenhuis, with a copy to the city clerk,  Deadline is Thursday, Aug. 7, in order that the letters can be included in council member packets for the Aug. 11 meeting.
