David R. Brown, 72, of Beloit, WI, died Saturday, July 26, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Jan. 13, 1942, in Beloit, WI, the son of Seth and Roberta (Fairchild) Brown. David was a 1960 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School, Beloit, WI. During the Berlin Crisis, David was called up to serve with the National Guard. He married Beverly Carroll on Oct. 26, 1963, in St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Beloit, WI. David was a life long farmer, beginning his career with dairy cows and more recently as a crop farmer. He won several quality milk awards, and awards for soil conservation practices. In 1987, David was named the Rock County Soil Conservation Farmer of the Year.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Beverly Brown of Beloit, WI; three children: Kelly (Dennis Knautz) Bockhop of Darlington, WI, Kim (Mike) Keister of Stoughton, WI, and Mike (Lynell) Brown of Beloit, WI; six grandchildren: Shane and Eric Bockhop, Tyler, Evan, Marissa, and Ashley Brown; two brothers, Don “Dick” (Ceil) Brown and Jerry (Diane) Brown; and one sister, Marilyn Busjahn. He was predeceased by his parents; infant daughter, Janie; grandson, Bradley; and his brother-in-law, Dave Busjahn.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at the DALEY MURPHY WISCH & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI, followed by a visitation from 5:15 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the FUNERAL HOME.
