Campaign seeks donated school supplies, books
JANESVILLE—The Janesville Noon Lions Club is teaming up with Blackhawk Community Credit Union and the Janesville School District and inviting the community to help Stuff the Bus with school supplies and books.
The drive runs through Saturday, Aug. 23, at Woodman's Food Market, 2819 N. Lexington Dr., Janesville.
All donations are welcome, and specific lists of needed supplies are available at Woodman's and online at www.janesvillenoonlions.org.
Vern Shea, president of the Janesville Noon Lions Club, said donated school supplies and books will make a difference in the lives of local kids and will give them the supplies they need to be successful in school.
“The last thing a child should need to think about on the first day of school is if they have supplies to start the year off on a positive note,” said Steve Huth, a Lion and recent retiree of the Janesville School District.
“Let's get together and Stuff the Bus so every student can enjoy the first day back at school.”
The Janesville Noon Lions Club, chartered in 1922, has 40 members and meets at noon on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the Janesville Elks Lodge.
