Trades, construction council endorses Sheridan
JANESVILLE—The Wisconsin State Building Trades and Construction Council has endorsed Mike Sheridan for the 15th District Senate seat.
The council represents 19 union locals in 17 crafts, including operating engineers, electricians, masons, painters, plumbers, roofers, teamsters, heat and frost insulators, elevator constructors, boilermakers, sheet metal workers, sprinkler fitters, steamfitters and iron workers.
“Mike has a proven record of supporting working families and protecting the interests of unions and the middle class jobs and workers they work hard to represent,” said Dave Chapman, who chaired the council's summer conference. “Mike is a proven leader both on the floor of the state legislature and on the factory floor standing with fellow workers.”
Sheridan served in the state Assembly for six years, including two as speaker. He previously served as United Autoworkers vice president and president for a total of nine years.
“My No. 1 priority is making sure that every person that wants a good family-supporting job has that opportunity,” Sheridan said.
Sheridan is running against Janis Ringhand and Austin Scieszinski in an Aug. 12 Democratic primary for the 15th Senate District seat now held by Tim Cullen.
