Milton police investigating Saturday night thefts

MILTON—Thieves broke into numerous vehicles and stole items and stole a vehicle late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, according to a Milton Police Department press release.

The crimes were in the 300 block of Rogers Street, College Street and Greenhill Circle in north-central Milton.

Police recovered the stolen Chrysler minivan on Tanglewood Drive in Janesville. They also recovered a wallet by the Ramada Inn in Janesville.

Police are examining evidence found near the crime scenes, including items that might have been used to break into vehicles.

“We do not have any arrests. We have quite a bit of physical evidence,” Milton Police Chief Daniel Layber said.

Reported stolen were purses, wallets, cash, iPads and laptops from locked and unlocked cars on streets, in driveways and in garages.

Layber encouraged residents to always lock their vehicles and to remove valuables from them.
