Dawna V. Lockery Gerhard, 81, of Janesville, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014, in her home after a long illness. She was born in Brooklyn, Wisconsin, (Rock County side) the daughter of Bruce V. and Ivy E. (Bergen) Lockery. Dawna was a member of the first graduating class of Beloit Memorial High School in 1951. She married W. Richard Gerhard on June 16, 1956, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Beloit, Wisconsin. Dawna was a former switch board operator at Beloit College. From 1968 until 2014, she was employed by W. Richard Gerhard, CPA, LLC. She was a member of St. Mark The Evangelist Lutheran Church. Dawna was a caring wife, mother and caregiver for Bruce.

Survivors include her husband, W. Richard Gerhard of Janesville, Wisconsin; son, Bruce Paul Gerhard of Janesville, Wisconsin; sister, Helen June Lockery Wegner of Colfax, California; brother-in-law, Robert E. Gerhard of New Hudson, Michigan; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Merwin E. and Carolyn L. Gerhard of Janesville, Wisconsin; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and other relatives. She was predeceased by her parents; grandparents; infant daughter; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Karola and Richard Wisch; sister-in-law, Bette Gerhard; brother-in-law, Warren Wegner; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Herman and Evelyn Gerhard.

The family would like to thank the medical staff at St. Mary's Janesville Hospital, Edgerton Hospital, Rock Haven Nursing Home, Dean Clinic, Home Health United Hospice, and personal caregivers for their help and compassion in Dawna's last weeks.

A Memorial service for Dawna will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2014, at ST. MARK THE EVANGELIST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2921 Mt. Zion Avenue, Janesville, Wisconsin, with Reverend Paul E. Speerbrecker officiating. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, at the DALEY MURPHY WISCH & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, Wisconsin. Visitation will also be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the CHURCH.

Memorials may be given in Dawna's name to the American Flag Fund of St. Mark The Evangelist Lutheran Church.
