Rock River League: Milton beats Clyman
MILTON—The Milton Junction Pub Raptors earned some breathing room for second place in the Rock River League South Division by edging third-place Clyman 2-0 at Schilberg Park on Friday night.
Milton improved to 11-3 and trails division-leading Neosho (14-1) by 2½ games. Clyman fell to 10-5.
“This was a big game,” Milton manager Doug Welch said.
Scott Steinke blooped a two-run triple down the right-field line to score T.J. Klawitter and Jeff Jacobson in the first inning to account for all the scoring in the game. Klawitter and Jacobson each had singled.
Sean McCann took over from there. The Raptors starting pitcher allowed just four hits while striking out 10 and walking just two in the shutout.
“He pitched his best game of the year,” Welch said. “He took control of the game.”
Milton plays Helenville at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Schilberg Park.
