Howard Warren Lambert, a truly gentle man with quiet inner strength and a witty sense of humor, left this earth on July 22, 2014. Born in Chicago, IL, Howard and his family moved to Janesville, WI, in 1970. He continued to be an avid Chicago Bears football fan. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing, carpentry, and gardening. He worked many years in the grocery business, including a small neighborhood store in Chicago. After moving to Wisconsin, he opened Zero's Subs in the Janesville Mall. He later came out of retirement to spend time as the proprietor of the Squeeze Inn in Milton. Over the years, he also enjoyed side jobs as a bartender at establishments such as Lucky's Tavern in Chicago, and The Legion Hall in Milton. Howard married his high school sweetheart, Marian Gildenzopf, on June 18, 1950.

The marriage was blessed with four children: Linda (Robert) Latour of Beloit, WI, Kathy (Dennis) McCann of Stuart, FL, Gregg Lambert of Salem, OR, and Scott (Margie) Lambert of Irvine CA. He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Tom (Louise) and Ken (Susan); a sister, Shirley; sister-in-law, Donna; and a special family friend, Lona. He will be deeply missed by all. He was preceded in passing by his parents, David and Bertha; brother, David; mother and father-in-law, Jack and Pauline; brothers-in-law, Wes and Kerry; and his grandson, Joshua.

According to Howard's wishes, there will be no services following cremation. The family asks that any memorials in his memory be made to St. Mary's Hospital, Medical ICU in Madison, WI. The ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES, Milton, is assisting the family.
