Intoxicated driving arrests

— JOSEPH A. JAKUBOWSKI, 30, of 21 N. Palm St., Janesville, at 2:49 a.m. Tuesday in Crazy Joe’s parking lot at 314 W. Milwaukee St., Janesville. It was his first offense, according to the incident report.


— THEFT reported at 2:46 p.m. on Monday in the 7000 block of West Gibbs Lake Road. A woman, 43, hired a man, 38, to complete small home improvements projects and fix leaks in her basement walls. The woman paid him $4,900 on June 23. The money was supposed to be given to Tri-State Basement Repair, but it appears he took her money with no intent to pay the company, according to the sheriff’s report.

— SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY reported at 12:42 a.m. on Tuesday in the 6000 block of Highway 51. A man, 46, heard what sounded like a person walking on his roof. He went outside to check it out and saw a person run off the back of his house. Police searched the area and did not find anyone. Nothing was missing or damaged. Since the homeowner moved to the house last year, he has reported numerous items stolen from his home including a bicycle, according to the sheriff’s report.

Injury accidents

— NORTH HIGHWAY 213 AND COUNTY M, Edgerton, at 12:23 p.m. Tuesday, a car driven by Alexander H. Thompson, 21, of 1741 Congress Ave., Beloit, went through a stop sign at the intersection and was going too fast to negotiate the curve going south. He drove the vehicle into the cornfield on the west side of Highway 213. He was cited for driving too fast for conditions and failure to stop at a stop sign. Sabrina J. Johnson, 21, of 13735 West Avon North Townline Road, town of Avon, was a passenger in the car. Johnson was transported and released from Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center.

— CENTER AND KELLOGG AVENUES, Janesville, at 1:25 p.m. Monday, a car driven by James R. Sellers, 77, of 996 Quail Lane, Janesville, collided in the intersection with a car driven by Melanie E. Kutz, of N. 1223 Garvert Lane, Fort Atkinson. Both drivers indicated they thought they had a green light. A local surveillance video showed Kutz had the green light. Sellers and his passenger, Elsie M. Sellers, 83, were transported and released from Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center. Kutz and her passengers, Joshua A. Messier, 20, Zachary R. Messier, 24 and Jade K. Freeman, 18, were all transported and released from Mercy Hospital.

— EAST MILWAUKEE STREET, Janesville, at 1:26 p.m. Friday, a moped driven by Samuel R. Quinn, 19, of 2210 N. Wright Road, Janesville, rear ended a car driven by Jeffrey A. Swanson, 54, of 4240 Baybrook Drive, Janesville, who was turning into a residential driveway. Quinn was cited for inattentive driving. Swanson and Quinn were transported and released from Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center.
