Janesville's American Legion baseball team is in the driver's seat at the Region 7 double-elimination district tournament.

Ryan Cashore struck out 12 Thursday night in a complete-game performance to lead Post 205 to a 7-1 win over Genoa City.

Janesville (22-15) is the only unbeaten team in the six-team field and earned a bye today before playing the winner of Waterford and Beloit at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Chase Nyborg had three hits to lead Post 205's offense, while Cashore was in control on the mound.

“Ryan was a bulldog for us tonight,” Janesville assistant coach Kerry Michaels said. “He walked the first two batters of the game and was struggling with his command but really buckled down after that.

“We gave him just enough support with some timely hits and some good baserunning. It was a good win to put us in a good position.”

Logan Coulter added two hits for Janesville, while Justin Graham had two RBI.
