Your Views: Austin Scieszinski will usher in new era of leadership
I last wrote a letter to the editor in 1993 and did not plan to ever write another one—until now. I decided to break my own rule because of the exciting candidacy of Austin Scieszinski for state Senate.
Austin will work tirelessly and be an incredibly effective state senator for all of us.
Madison politicians and special interests don’t want Austin to win this race because they know they won’t be able to influence him. His decisions will be made based on what is best for the people of the 15th Senate District, not the establishment in Madison.
This state Senate primary reminds me of a question Bob La Follette asked more than 100 years ago: “Who shall govern, the money or the people?” With Austin Scieszinski, there is no doubt—the people will govern. Austin is only interested in serving our district, not in pandering to lobbyists, high-dollar donors or deep-pocketed special-interest groups.
Austin’s only “special interest” will be the people of the 15th Senate District.
I’ve known Austin well since 2007. He has the desire, the guts, the compassion, the brains and the maturity to be a great state senator. I know he will make us all proud.
As Austin says, it’s time for a new generation of leadership in Madison.
I hope people will join me in voting for Austin Scieszinski for state Senate on Aug. 12.
