Dance Attitudes dance team earns national title

Members of a Janesville-area dance team earned a national title in June at Applause Talent National Dance Competition in Charleston, South Carolina.

In addition to bringing home a number of awards for solo, duo/trio, small-group and large-group performances, the team from Dance Attitudes, Janesville, earned the Spirit Award for excellent sportsmanship.

The team's four small-group dances each earned platinum awards, which are the highest possible. All four numbers were ranked in the overalls in their categories, and one took home the first-place national title for small groups.

The team members range in age from 6 to 18. The teams are directed by Tanya Adkins and Megan Pohl of Janesville.

The four group dances and the participants in each are:

Lost Dolls: platinum award and first place overall: Lindsey Williams, Baylee Grischow, Sydney Mallon, Lauren Schumacher, Beth Kaveggia, Grace Schmaling.

Little Party: platinum award and second place overall: Lindsey Williams, Beth Kaveggia, Lacee Karkosh, Emily Ward, Lauren Schumacher, Kara McVicar, Megan Kulinski, Sarah Haye.

Anything Can Happen: platinum award and sixth place overall: Kallisty Adkins, Sydney Mallon, Baylee Grischow, Grace Schmaling, Lauren Schumacher, Alie Blaser, Samantha Kaveggia.

Strongest Suite: platinum award: Payten Mallon, Sophie Meyer, Tarryn Mallon, Rileigh Silha, Laney Gill, Lilly Bailey.
