Elliott Jack Resneck, a long-time resident of Janesville, WI, (from 1944-1990) and for the past three years as a resident of Cedar Crest Independent Living in Janesville, passed away at the age of 94, on July 18, 2014, at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg, WI. He and his late wife, Dory Block Resneck, from the mid-1940’s until 1972, owned and operated Elliott’s Fashion Apparrel, Inc., a chain of Southern Wisconsin women's clothing stores. After the sale of the Elliott’s stores, Mr. Resneck founded Elliott J. Resneck Financial Services, winning many national awards for his work. In that endeavor, he was joined by his son-in-law, the late Richard DiStefano. The Resnecks retired full-time to Pompano Beach, FL, in 1990. Mrs. Resneck died in 1998, and Mr. Resneck returned to Janesville, in 2008.

Mr. Resneck was active in the Janesville community, serving as president of the Chamber of Commerce, on the board of the M&I Bank, as president of the Janesville Country Club, and as a Paul Harris Fellow and a member of Rotary for than 50 years. The Resnecks were members of Temple Beth El in Madison, WI. Second only to his family, Mr. Resneck’s greatest joy was flying his twin-engine Beechcraft for both business and pleasure.

Born July 14, 1920, in Lepanto, AR, to William V. and Bess Adams Resneck, Mr. Resneck and his parents soon moved to Watertown, WI, where he spent his childhood. He was a 1937 graduate of St. John’s Military Academy, a 1941 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and author of a weekly column, “Maybe I’m Wrong” for the Daily Cardinal. He attended Harvard Law School until he was drafted into the Army Air Corps in 1942. He and Dory Block Resneck were married in Milwaukee, on April 12, 1942.

Mr. Resneck is survived by his three daughters: Susan Resneck Pierce of Boca Raton, FL, Linda DiStefano (Robert) Krohn of Janesville, and Brenda Resneck (Kenneth) Laughery of Janesville; three grandchildren: Alexandra (Steven) Siegel of Lighthouse Point, FL; David (Heather) DiStefano of Janesville, and Dena (Jeff) Christ of St. Louis, MO; and six great-grandchildren.

The family wants to give special thanks to his caregivers, Linda Stocks and Deb Keena, who took wonderful care of him for the past six years, and to the staffs of both the Janesville and Fitchburg Agrace who gave him exemplary care.

There will be a private burial at Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison, WI, on July 25. Memorials may be made to Agrace Hospice Care, 2901 N. Wright Road, Janesville, WI 53548.
