Polly C. Byrne, age 53, of Round Lake, IL, and formerly of Janesville, and Milton, died on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Agrace HospiceCare, Fitchburg, after a courageous battle with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma that never took her spirit. She was born on Nov. 29, 1960, in Stoughton, the daughter of Gerald T. and Ruth M. (Sproul) Byrne. She graduated from Parker High School in 1979, and graduated in 1980, from Blackhawk Technical College with an Associate Degree in Child Development. Polly married Gerald Wilson and together they had a daughter, Danielle Wilson. She had been employed by ABC Nursery School, Cooperative Learning Center, Lincoln School, R&H Root Beer Stand, Plaza Pharmacy, Blackhawk Credit Union, and the International Union, UAW, where she worked as an International Servicing Representative and coordinated the Women’s Council. Both on and off the job, Polly passionately advocated for working people and consistently inspired women to pursue leadership roles in their jobs, unions, and communities. Polly loved to sing, dance, decorate, and laugh. Her strength, spunk, generosity, and grace were evident in the life she lived and shine on in the many lives she touched.

Polly is survived by her devoted and loving daughter, Danielle (Ritch) Williams of Madison; mother, Ruth M. Byrne of Janesville; 10 siblings: Peggy (Richard) Hansen of Janesville, Patricia (Jamie) Schliesmann of Big Bend, James Byrne of Janesville, Penny (Larry) Hoeft of Beloit, Pamela (Barry) Fay of Janesville, John (Barbara) Byrne of Janesville, Paula (Paul) Zima of Palm Bay, FL, Prudence (Dennis) Miland of Janesville, Mary (Bob) Whaling of Bellevue, NE, and Marlene Byrne of Janesville; former husband, Gerald (Betsy) Wilson of Brodhead; step-daughter, Julianne Esser of Wisconsin Rapids; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, many dear friends; and union brothers and sisters, who were close to her heart. She was preceded in death by her father and brother, Gerald Byrne, Jr.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 2014, at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY with Rev. Robert T. Yeager, officiating.
