Dragons rally to sweep Snappers
The Dayton Dragons rallied from behind to sweep the Beloit Snappers on Friday night.
Dayton scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning to beat Beloit 6-5 at Pohlman Field.
The Snappers grabbed a 4-0 lead in the third thanks primarily to back-to-back home runs. Catcher Philip Pohl crushed his third homer of the season, a two-run shot, followed by a solo blast from Ryan Mathews, his sixth.
Beloit carried a 4-1 lead into the eighth inning. There, Robert Ramirez led off with a double and scored on a one-out double by Jamodrick McGruder.
The Dragons did the rest of their damage with two outs. After two straight walks, Gabriel Rosa cleared the bases with a triple and then scored on a Beloit error.
The Snappers got a run back in their half of the eighth on Tyler Marincov’s 11th home run, but Dayton held on from there.
Beloit opens a home series against Bowling Green at 7 p.m. tonight.
