Errors halt Snappers' comeback bid
Errors doomed the Beloit Snappers on Thursday night.
They committed four fielding blunders that led to three unearned runs in a 6-3 home loss to the Dayton Dragons.
Dayton led 2-0 in the fifth inning when Phil Ervin blasted his fifth home run of the year. The two-run shot doubled the lead.
Beloit clawed back with a run in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the sixth to pull within one run. But two Snappers errors in the top of the ninth allowed the Dragons to plate a pair of insurance runs, and they held on for the victory.
The two teams wrap up their series at Pohlman Field tonight.
