Three arrested in thefts from motor vehicles
JANESVILLE—Police continue to investigate thefts from motor vehicles after arresting three people early Monday morning.
Additional charges may be coming as more victims are identified, according to a news release from the Janesville Police Department.
-- Kristopher G. Beeman, 18, no fixed address, on five counts of theft-party to a crime, obstructing/resisting an officer and underage consumption of alcohol.
-- Dalton F. Garrity, 19, no fixed address, on five counts of theft-party to a crime, obstructing/resisting an officer and underage consumption of alcohol.
-- Victoria J. Rogers, 24, of 1212 Maple Court, Janesville, on five counts of theft and party to a crime.
During a Street Crimes Unit operation focusing on thefts from motor vehicles, an officer at 1:45 a.m. Monday noticed three people walking in the 1200 block of North Grant Avenue. He then saw them entering unlocked parked vehicles.
Unit officers and patrol officers coordinated efforts to take three suspects into custody after short foot pursuits.
The three were arrested and taken to the Rock County Jail, where they were being held pending court appearances, according to the release.
Items recovered from the suspects included small electronics, currency, wallets and purses, the release stated.
Police said other thefts occurred in the 1700 clock of Barham Avenue, 1700 Mole Avenue and the 1500 block of Frederick Street.
