Beloit Snappers swept Sunday
GENEVA, Ill.—The Kane County Cougars swept a Midwest League doubleheader against the Beloit Snappers on Sunday.
Kane County starter Jen-Ho Tseng pitched a complete game to start the day, allowing only three hits in the seven-inning contest.
Tseng, who struck out seven and didn't allow a walk, lost his shutout bid when Beloit designated hitter Matt Chapman homered off him to start the seventh inning, but Kane County's three-run fourth inning was enough to secure the win.
Beloit gave it a better shot in the second game, pounding out eight hits and tying the game at 5-5 in the top of the seventh inning.
Second baseman Luis Baez had three RBI in game two, only to be outdone by Kane County's Jeimer Candelario, who hit two homers in the contest. His first was a three-run blast in the bottom of the fifth, and he hit his second with one out in the bottom of the seventh to win the game.
The Snappers wrap up the series today at noon.
