Water quality warning issued for Lions Beach
JANESVILLE—The city has issued a water quality notice for Lions Beach.
The most recent water quality test showed elevated levels of bacteria in the swimming area, according to a news release from the city.
The sample taken showed E. coli bacteria levels of 326 parts per million, the news release said.
Any water test that shows bacteria counts between 250 ppm and 1,000 ppm requires that the public be notified, even though the beach is still considered safe for swimming. Beaches are not closed until the bacteria count is over 1,000 ppm.
Water quality advisory signs will be removed from the beach when tests show decreased bacteria levels.
