Janesville Legion baseball sweeps doubleheader at Baraboo
Janesville’s American Legion baseball team made a triumphant return to playing in-state Tuesday night.
Post 205 piled up 31 hits over two games and swept a doubleheader at Baraboo, winning the first game 11-3 and the second 16-1.
Janesville, playing its first games since a lengthy trip to Colorado, is now 14-9.
In the first game, Janesville allowed the first three Baraboo batters to reach on errors, and they all scored. But it was all Janesville after that. Chase Nyborg led the hit barage with a 3-for-5 effort, including two doubles.
“The first inning, with the errors, kind of reminded me of the Colorado trip,” Janesville coach Bob Schenck said. “We’ve got to start working on our defense.”
Pitcher Colin Fry dominated the second game, pitching a one-hitter with five strikeouts and two walks. Ryan Cashore went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles.
“Fry is getting better each outing,” Schenck said. “He took a year off from pitching, so it’s been baby steps to getting him to where he wants to be.”
Janesville was scheduled to host a game tonight, but that game has been called off.
Post 205 returns to action Friday in a tournament at Oconomowoc.
