BELOIT—A man wanted for two murders in the Rockford, Illinois, area, was apprehended after a high-speed chase that ended in a crash in Beloit on Friday, said Capt. Bill Tyler of the Beloit Police Department.

“There was a nationwide manhunt out for this guy,” Tyler said.

The chase, which involved multiple jurisdictions, started at 11 a.m. at St. Lawrence Avenue and Division Street in Beloit. It ended 40 minutes later at 2931 Liberty St., a Rock County Communications dispatcher said.

The chase included law enforcement officials from the Illinois State Police, Wisconsin State Patrol, Beloit, Rock County, town of Beloit and Winnebago County and Rockford police in Illinois, they said.

The chase, according to scanner chatter, indicated it reached speeds in excess of 100 mph at times.

Beloit police received a report of a sighting of homicide suspect Terrence Doddy, Tyler said.

“We had a report in the area and we were looking for the vehicle, then the vehicle was located in the stateline area,” he said.

Doddy was injured when his vehicle crashed into a tree after stop sticks were deployed at Paddock and Liberty streets.

“He's in custody and being cared for at this time,” Tyler said at noon Friday.
