September 7, 1929 - July 2, 2014

Marion B. Prust, 84, passed away on July 2, 2014, at Alden Estates surrounded by her family, after suffering a stroke. Marion was born on Sept. 7, 1929, in Richmond, IL, the daughter of Arthur and Anna (Cairns) Carlson. Marion grew up in the Genoa City, WI, area where she attended country school. Her family moved to a farm near Jefferson, WI, in 1944. She met the love of her life at Schweiger Industries, where both she and Chuck worked. On July 3, 1948, Marion married Charles Prust at Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church in Jefferson, WI. They took over his grandfather’s dairy farm in 1950. Five children were born to this union. Marion was a kind and generous person who saw the good in everyone. In her own words, her children were her greatest accomplishment and she made the world a better place by bringing them into it. She said that honesty and commitment to family were what she tried to teach her children. Marion lived her dream of becoming a teacher by actively working with children as a General Leader of the South Side Eagles 4-H Club in Lake Mills, for many years. She was instrumental in the coordination of the first Market Animal Sale at the Jefferson County fair. Marion also spent many years driving school bus and milking cows.

Later in life, Marion enjoyed flower gardening, bird watching and spending time at Lake Arrowhead during retirement. She bowled, played golf and loved to dance. Marion’s close association with her group of lady friends the “Puffin Muffins” was very special to her. In her spare time, she expressed her artistic abilities through sewing and crafts. She sewed many beautiful things for her children, grandchildren and for craft fairs.

Marion will be remembered by her family for her love of Christmas. She loved this time of the year and no matter how little time she may have had she always baked many delicious cookies, pies, and breads.

Marion is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charles Prust; her sons: Paul (Jo) of Marshall, WI, Jeff (Sheila) of Hurley, WI, and John and special friend, Tina Dunkleberger, of Jefferson; two daughters, Barbara (Larry) Lee of Jefferson, and Patty (Doug) Heckart of Dakota City, NE; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Myrtle Lavasser-Licari (Vince) of Jefferson, and Shirley (Stanley) Sitts of McFarland, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Arthur Carlson, Jr. and Leonard Carlson; a sister, Inez Zarnstorff; a granddaughter, Marion Tyler; and a great-granddaughter, Molly Pechan.

Visitation will be held at SCHNEIDER-MICHAELIS FUNERAL HOME from 3 until 7 p.m. on Thursday July 3, 2014. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 5, at 11 a.m. at SAINT MARK’S LUTHERAN CHURCH in Jefferson, with Reverend Jeanette Thorp officiating. Visitation will be held at the CHURCH from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in Union Cemetery, Jefferson.

The family would like to thank Fort Memorial Hospital, Alden Estates, and Rainbow Hospice for all of their help and support.
