Janesville reopens Lions Beach after water test shows safe bacteria levels
JANESVILLE--A fresh test of the water at Lions Beach shows the level of bacteria is well within safety limits, prompting the city to reopen the attraction Thursday, according to a city news release.
The city closed the beach after water samples showed elevated levels of bacteria earlier this week.
The city recreation division immediately took another sample and sent it to the state hygiene lab. The most recent sample came back with a result of 19 parts per million. Fewer than 250 parts per million is safe for swimming, according to state water quality standards.
