JANESVILLE—Two holiday events will affect Janesville traffic Friday and Sunday.

The Veterans Memorial Bridge on Memorial Avenue and the bridge ramps will be closed to traffic when nearby Traxler Park hosts Independence Day on the Rock, beginning at 8 p.m. Friday.

Also Friday, North Franklin Street between Mineral Point Avenue and Highland Avenue will be closed at 8 p.m. The bicycle trail will be closed from Mineral Point Avenue to the area just north of the Veterans Memorial Bridge.

Friday fireworks have been scheduled for about 9:30 p.m. When they end, expect delays leaving Traxler Park. Those heading south on Main Street will not be able to turn left to Centerway. Motorists heading south on Parker Drive will not be able to turn right onto Centerway.

On Sunday, Traxler Park will be the site of the annual Rock, Roll and Run Triathlon. All roads will remain open to traffic during the event, but traffic will be stopped at times along the route to protect the participants.

The triathlon begins at 7 a.m. and ends at about 11 a.m. The bicycle portion begins at the park, following Main Street, Centerway, North Franklin Street, Mineral Point Road and out of the city. Riders will return on the same route.

The triathlon's run portion will leave Traxler Park and will follow Main Street, East Holmes Street, Sinclair Street, East Van Buren Street, Wisconsin Street, Prospect Avenue, Cornelia Street, Pease Court and Main Street back to the park.
