MADISON—Expect delays on Interstate highways in Dane and Rock counties during the upcoming weekend, the state Department of Transportation says.

The department expects delays along the heavily traveled Interstates 90/39 and 94, according to a news release.

“Motorists are advised to avoid traveling at peak times, between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m., or use alternate routes” at the beginning and end of the long weekend, the news release states.

A construction zone on the I-39/90/94 bridges at the Highway 151 interchange near Madison also is expected to slow traffic. Three lanes are open in each direction. No work will take place during the holiday, but the northbound lanes are split to accommodate construction, and speeds are reduced to 55 mph.

For up-to-the-minute information on work zones and incidents that might affect highway travel, motorists can use the state's 511 travel information system by dialing 511 on a phone or visiting Wisconsin 511 online at 511wi.gov/Web.
