Elton W. Broege, age 91, of Janesville, died on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Manor, Footville. He was born on Aug. 12, 1922, the son of Edgar E. and Leta W. (Wilcox) Broege. He graduated from Janesville High School in 1940, UW Madison College of Agriculture in 1948, with a Bachelor of Science degree, and was a member of Alpha Gamma RHO Fraternity. Elton served in the US Army Air Corp and married Marilyn A. Mabie on June 17, 1950, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Janesville. He was a dairy farmer and, with his wife, they owned Brunland Farms Corp. He was a member of First Congregational Church all of his life, elected to the Board of Directors of the Janesville Area Chamber of Commerce, LaPraire Consolidated School Board, LaPraire Town Board for 16 years serving as Town Chairman for 6 years, a member of the Janesville Noon Rotary Club serving as President in 1978, Rock County 5-H and the Janesville Elks Club. He was active in 4-H, especially the 4-H Fair, past president of the Rock County Fair Board, which involved him in the hiring of entertainment. Elton was named outstanding "Fair Person" in 1986, by the Wisconsin Association of Fairs, and he was active in several farm organizations, serving as President of Pure Milk Association.

Elton is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marilyn; three children: Elizabeth (Curtis) Domingue of Houston, TX, Paul (Janet) Broege of Janesville, and Marcia (Kipp) Hoscheit of Beloit; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Broege; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Garit and Steven Broege.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH, Janesville, with Rev. Thomas Rich officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Janesville. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, from 4. until 7 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, Janesville.
