Would you like fries with that OWI?
JANESVILLE—Two customers seeking fast food who were upset with their service were ultimately arrested on charges of operating while intoxicated, said Sgt. Aaron Ellis of the Janesville Police Department.
The first arrest occurred at 7:25 a.m. Sunday at McDonald's, 2610 W. Court St., when Steve Rinehart, 35, of 2611 Harvard Drive, Apt. 8, returned to the eatery because he was upset.
“They forgot the pancakes in his big breakfast, so he went back,” Ellis said.
McDonald's employees called police, who determined Rinehart was intoxicated and noted he had a passenger with open intoxicants, Ellis said.
Rinehart was arrested on a charge of intoxicated driving, reportedly his second offense.
Just after midnight Sunday, Chester Potter, 25, of 1806 Randolph Road, Janesville, was glad employees at McDonald's, 1622 Milton Ave., called police so he could complain about their service, Ellis said.
When police arrived, Potter was still in his car in the drive-through. He used expletives to explain that employees wouldn't serve him, and that's when he was arrested on an OWI charge, reportedly his first offense, Ellis said.
